Deadline has passed already!
On Monday 11 February ASA is organising a career event! At this event you will hear three speakers from different fields of international law. They will elaborate on what kind of career path they had, their experiences and their work at the moment. At the end of every lecture there will be a possibility to ask questions.
The three speakers are:
Krit Zeegers, who worked at the Yugoslavia tribunal, the ministry of foreign affairs and the university of Mekelle in Ethiopia. Moreover, he has done a PhD and worked at Allen & Overy. Right now, Krit works at Jebbink Soeteman Advocaten, where he focuses on (financial) criminal law.
Ellen Gorris, who is a policy officer on gender and age at the European Commission, Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO), where she works on gender-and age-sensitive humanitarian aid, gender-based violence in emergencies and child protection. She previously worked at the European Commission, Directorate-General for Justice, Gender Equality and Consumers Affairs (rights of the child) and the International Commission of Jurists. She has authored several publications on conflict-related sexual violence against men and boys.
Mr. Vivek, who works as Human Rights Officer at the NGO Global Human Rights Defence (GHRD) will give his lecture together with Mr. Sital, the Chairman of GHRD. The NGO promotes and advocates human rights in areas where minorities and marginalised groups are targets of regular human rights violations and global attention for these abuses is lacking. The key countries of operation are Pakistan and Bangladesh, two of the most dangerous countries for religious, sexual and ethnic minorities.
The event will start at 19:30 (walk-in from 19:00) in a separate room in Cafe de Jaren. Afterwards we will have drinks in the bar area.
Entrance is free, but make sure to register via:https://goo.gl/forms/Ecubo8iWhJ4JtYUJ2
We hope to see you on the 11th!
ASA International Law
Do you think studypong sounds nerdy? You are absolutely right! But it’s a good excuse to study while getting drunk ?
This evening we will not just be playing regular beerpong, but our own nerdy version of it! How the game works: under some cups there will a question about international law. If you answer correctly, you don’t have to drink the cup yet, which means: more chance at winning! ASA will provide beer for the first few games.
The event will take place on the 5th of December at CREA around 17:30, so you can just roll out of the library into a game of beerpong with us!
Hope to see you there!
