ASA International Law Board 2019/2020

Dear students,

As we are finally complete, it is time to introduce our new board!

 


Chair: Dajana Madzura

In that capacity, she oversees the work done by the other board members and acts as the face of the organization. She is Dutch and she is doing a master in Public International Law. Dajana completed her Bachelor degree in Law in Utrecht and is currently still living there. You very are welcome to approach Dajana if you have any questions about ASA, she is happy to help you herself or to help you find the right person.

 

Secretary: Caterina Woudenberg

Her primary task is to communicate with members, manage all information received from the university, and take minutes during our weekly board meetings. She also assists in coordinating events. Caterina is half Italian, half Dutch and is studying Public International Law. She has previously done a Bachelor in European Studies, where she discovered an interest in EU and international law.

 

PR Officer: Claudia Meijer

Her tasks involve creating the website, writing newsletters and promoting events. Claudia is currently studying International and European Governance and has previously majored in European Union Law. She grew up in Amsterdam and is half Dutch, half Portuguese. For any questions relating to promotion or collaborations, or feedback, you are very welcome to contact her!

 

Treasurer: Chloé Bakker

She is responsible for overseeing the board’s budget and financial management, working closely with other members of the board to safeguard ASA’s finances. Chloé is currently doing a pre-Master programme in Law and has previously obtained her Bachelor’s in European Studies, with a major in European Union Law. She is half Dutch and half French and grew up in Leiden. You are more than welcome to contact Chloé if you have any questions regarding finances or your ASA membership!

 

Events & Geneva Officer: Maren Støldal Risa

Maren is responsible for the Events and the Geneva Trip and is your contact for any practical questions regarding our events! She is Norwegian and is currently studying Public International Law at the University of Amsterdam. Last year she obtained a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Sussex, during which she did an exchange year to Taiwan.

As the new academic year has officially started, it is time to introduce our new board!

However, we are still missing one person as the position of Events and Geneva Officer is still open. The Events & Geneva Officer is responsible for organising our annual study trip to Geneva and several other events. Here follows a short description of the tasks and responsibilities, by last year’s Events & Geneva Officer:

“The tasks you will encounter as the Events & Geneva Officer are very diverse. It is about planning interesting visits to the different organisations, guest lectures, borrels or whatever you wish to do throughout the year, so you can also be very creative! You will be in contact with all the major institutions important for International Law such as the UN, ICJ or the ICC. Regarding the Geneva trip, arranging accommodation, flights and the overall activities might seem like taking a lot of responsibility, but you will definitely learn a lot from it.”

Board members

Chair: Lisa Langendijk

Lisa is the Chair of the ASA International Law Board 2018-2019. In that capacity, she oversees the work done by the other board members and acts as the face of the organization. She is Dutch and she is doing the master International Trade and Investment Law as well as the master Law and Finance. Her focus is on investment law and on international arbitration.You very are welcome to approach Lisa if you have any questions about ASA, she is happy to help you herself or to help you find the right person.

Secretary: Ipek Ülker

Ipek is the secretary of this year's ASA International Law board. Her primary task is to communicate with members, and manage all information received from the university. She also assists in coordinating events. She is from Turkey and was born in Belgium, and her passion for International Law stems from her multicultural upbringing. She currently studies European Studies with a major in European Union Law and a minor in law, economics and business. You can always approach her with questions related to ASA!

PR manager: Suzanna Bazaz

Suzanna is the PR Manager of ASA. Her tasks involve creating the new website, designing the logo and newsletters and promoting events. She is currently studying the master Public International Law with a special interest in international migration law. This semester she is participating as a team member in the JESSUP Moot Court competition. For any questions relating to promotion or collaborations you are very welcome to contact her!

Events officer: Julia Krämer

Julia is responsible for the Events and the Geneva Trip and is your contact for any questions relating to that field! She is a German Bachelor student in her final year at the University of Amsterdam. She is studying European studies and mayoring European Law and is now focussing with her electives on Law and Economics. With her minor in Conflict Studies she discovered her passion for International Law and she thinks the ASA board is the perfect opportunity to deepen her knowledge in this field.

Treasurer: Vera Naaijkens

Vera is the Treasurer of the ASA International Law board 2018-2019. She is responsible for overseeing the board’s budget and financial management, working closely with other members of the board to safeguard ASA’s finances. Vera obtained her Bachelor degree of Laws at the University of Amsterdam, for which she also spent half a year at the Panthéon-Sorbonne University in Paris. She is currently studying Public International Law and has a special interest in international human rights law. You are more than welcome to contact Vera if you have any questions regarding finances or other matters!
